Blown Tire
While driving today, a truck several hundred yards away from me had a blowout. It made a loud bang that was audible back in my car, along with a cloud of dust. After a few more moments, the outer layer of the tire came off. He then moved over to the right lane, and apparently got off at the 106th S exit.
Aggressive Merging
Thanks to Duncan for the submission!
“I see this stunt happen quite a lot during my short commute. It doesn’t always happen to me but I see it being done to many others at this merge. It typically happens more on my way home that on my way to work. I was travelling North on I-215 heading home. The traffic was quite light, as it was about 6:30pm. I-80 merges with I-215 before the 7th north exit. I noticed this SUV approaching from the I-80 lane but didn’t realize he HAD to get in front of me. there was no -one for quite some distance behind me and when I realized he was unhappy with having to slow down to 65MPH and already alongside me I had no where to move over to get out of his way.”
Bridge Transport
This morning on the way to work, I passed several semis transporting what appeared to be bridge pieces (likely for the construction in Bountiful).
Who’s lane is it anyway?
We have another submission from Duncan!
He reports:
“It’s not too easy to see but she was not looking forward when I had already stopped and she was in the lane, I was in two minds about reversing to get out of the way. Not an easy junction to pull that stunt and I believe there is a NO LEFT turn sign in that filling station, but I could be wrong.
This camera is a curse.”

Running a Red Light
Thanks to our first submission from Duncan!
“I just installed a dashcam to my car in case I had to use any recordings. I didn’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary on the 2nd day I had it installed. Approaching a Green light and someone runs the red from the right. I don’t think even noticed what they did.”

Golf Ball vs Windshield
While driving along I-215 near the Murray Parkway golf course, a yellow golf ball was bouncing along the freeway. Unfortunately it soon made contact with my windshield. It left a large crack around the impact mark; multiple concentric rings about the diameter of a basketball.
Pictures are below the break.
Two Exit Misses
On the way back from work today, I drove past the I-215/I-80 interchange. At both the eastbound and westbound exits, two separate vehicles nearly missed their exits.
The first was a semi with a backhoe. The car behind him that properly made his exit had to slam on his breaks to let him in.
The other was an SUV that seemed to decide on the exit just in the nick of time.
Attentive Lane Changing
A brand new silver car was driving in front of me. As we came to the I-15/I-215 merge, the silver car tried to move over to the far right lane. However, during this time, an SUV merged from the right; occupying the same space that the silver car was trying to enter. Perhaps due to driving a new car, the silver car driver barely noticed the SUV in time.
Intelligent Lane Change
I was driving through the I-215/SR 201 interchange today when a car decided that the others merging with him were driving too slow. He hopped across two lanes to end up right in front of me – despite my being very close and coming up fast. He even had second thoughts about it and almost decided it was smarter not to hop in front of me (you can tell by how he hesitates).
Had I not braked quickly, I’d probably have rear-ended him.
Drifting Semi
The semi ahead of me on the left started drifting over into my lane. The car right in front of me ended up moving out of the way to avoid being sideswiped.
