12-14 Record Breaking Storm
This morning marked the first big snow storm in Salt Lake. Over the course of the day, we got about a foot of snow. This provided some interesting morning driving weather.
Merging from I-15 to I-215 proves exciting with any kind of inclement weather, and today was no exception – there was a Prius who’d spun around after smashing their left headlight against the side wall.
Two Left Turns
In the long line of cars waiting on 13th East at the south end of the valley, one paused to let the waiting cars turn. Both decided to go at once and very nearly collided.
As a sidenote, I’m not sure why I suddenly ran across three video-worthy events after a few weeks of nothing, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
Very Very Orange
At the intersection of State Street and 106th South, a car made a left turn long after the light had turned red – even with the few second grace period, he was nearly in the middle of the intersection when cars started moving the other way.
Close Left
At the intersection of 94th S and 7th E, an SUV narrowly missed being hit after not having enough room to turn.
Construction Barrel Dodge
There is currently construction ongoing for eastbound I-215 near the I-15 interchange. Today someone apparently had trouble avoiding the barrels, and several of them were hit – one of them even going into the traffic lanes.
I-215 Grass Fire
Off to the side of I-215 today there was a grass fire. It was relatively small, but made a large amount of smoke, and some pretty cool video while driving through it.
The fire was big enough it rated a small article on the SL Tribune that can be found here (nothing on KSL though that I saw).
